Hello,

What roles do these "that clauses" act as? I need your confirmation of them.

(1) I am sure that he'll come. = I am confident on the subject of that he'll come. or I am sure inconnection with his coming.?

(2) I am confident that he'll come = I am confident on the subject of that he'll come?

(3) I am afraid that I have broken your pen. = I am afraid because that I have broken your pen.
