I am so confused!!

do you say I got hit IN the head or ON the head or BOTH?

I got hit IN the leg or ON the leg?

what about other parts of the body?

Top answer

Both work for me. I got hit in/on the knee/elbow/ear/groin/chest/neck . On seems to sound better with broader areas of the body, and in sounds better in concave areas.

It's a funny one. You would probably use 'on' for the head, but you would always use 'in' for the face.
