I am so confused

I've been in an English country for almost one year, but my English is still not good enough, i'm kind of anxious and worried. I don't know why, maybe i usually put pressure on me, but i think about one way to improve my English, which is improving my vocalbury, but i hate to recite vocalbury everyday, it is really so boring that u have to recite like 100 vocalbury one day, but then u'll forget it soon for another day! otherwise, my english speaking is really poor, i just think i may have to go to some places like church or library to see if there's anyone volunteer to speak English with people. That's too bad! I hate that feeling. I really want to speak English like the other people who can speak it fluently and well, but i can't! maybe it should take a long time but i can't stand to wait!

Hi Candice, I meet people every day who have the same feelings of anxiety, impatience and worry. It's very normal for newcomers. May I ask you how long you have been in Canada?

May I ask you how long you have been in Canada? What part of Canada are you living in? Do you go to English classes?

Best wishes, Clive

Hi again,

It's a small world. I teach English in Toronto, in the LINC program, and I have a lot of Chinese students. They all have the same concerns and problems as you.

Unfortunately, there is no shortcut to better English. It does take time. Do you read English newspapers and books? I always tell people that reading English is an excellent way to improve their vocabulary. Vol
