I am paralyzed

"Let all you husbands who have troubles on your minds stand up!" shouted the preacher at the revival.

Every man in the church rose to his feet except one.

“Ah” exclaimed the preacher, "you are one in a million."

"It isn't that. I can't get up; I am paralyzed!"

Here, does I am paralyzed mean the person is physically unable to move because of some accident or just mean he can't get up because he sits for a long time but can recover after a while?

It could be either, but it would usually be assumed to mean that his condition is long-term or permanent if there were no reason to think otherwise.
