Vocabulary

I am now settled/I have settled in ....

Hello,
Which sentence sounds better to you?
- I am now settled in Amsterdam.
- I have settled in Amsterdam. (assuming that the speaker moved to Amsterdam a few months ago).

I think they are different. The first is similar to "settle down". After a lot of moving around/traveling s/he finally settled in Amsterdam.
The second suggests to me that the speaker has lived there for a few month and s/he feels comfortable living in Amsterdam.

What do you think?

So I assume it is different from "settle down" then. However, people settle down after moving around or after a lot of travelling, don't they? I don't want to say that it involves getting married. That would sound very old-fashioned and ways of life have changed a lot.
