Can we say this sentence since it is a stative verb here ,,,,I have seen WE8 footbal,l computer game,,and inside in fottball pitch you know there are some ads ,,,it was written like this ------I am loving this game........

What do you say about that?

Hi,

I think there is a small change in the language that may be occuring here. Now I am starting to see ads like 'MacDonalds - I'm loving it', where before, it would have been ' .... I love it.' I sometimes hear people on TV speaking this way, too. It's a thing with young people.

I haven't heard it for people, just for things or activities.

It will be interesting to see if this is a permanent or just a temporary change.

English grammar - I'm lovin' it!

But we can say 'I have been loving you', right?

Then what kind of factor does make the difference between:

# I have been loving you.

and

# I am loving you (if possible in some situation).

I've been thinking that 'I've loved you for years' and 'I've been loving you for years' are nearly the same thing. Seems I was wrong.

The above answers make good sense, but I think I can add something that will be helpful to you. "Love" is one of a number of verbs in English that normally are not used in the progressive, as they are used in the simdiki zaman in Turkish. Others include: see, hear, think, want, forget ["mental verbs" perhaps is a good way to classify them].

This is not to say that they are never used in the progressive: if we really want to emphasize the present-ness, right now, it's happening aspect of the action, it is sometimes used.

When I was teaching English in Tukey I had quite a lengthy list developed. (I knew that my Turkish was getting pretty good - and interfering with English - when I was with a group of fellow Americans and we were looking for something on a map: I said, "I'm not seeing it. Görmiyorum is perfectly o.k.here in Turkish, but English would normally be "I don't see it".)
