Hi, I think there is a small change in the language that may be occuring here. Now I am starting to see ads like 'MacDonalds - I'm loving it', where before, it would have been ' .... ' I sometimes hear people on TV speaking this way, too.

It's just a colloquial expression. I recommend not trying to analyse it!

What do you say about that?

Yes; it turns a state into an action.

But we can say 'I have been loving you', right?

Then what kind of factor does make the difference between:

# I have been loving you.

and

# I am loving you (if possible in some situation).

??

Hi,

But we can say 'I have been loving you', right? It's a very odd thing to say. It's very hard to think of a context where you would say this.

Best wishes, Clive

Dear friends,

There was a popular song «I have been loving you too long». It is a long time ago. Emotion: smile

Kind regards,

Zeppelin! I love the song.
I've been thinking that 'I've loved you for years' and 'I've been loving you for years' are nearly the same thing. Seems I was wrong.

Thank you very much for your replies.
Regards,

L.
