I am in class now

Because of COVID-19, in-person class has moved to the online format.

If I am attending a class online and one of my friends asks me what I am doing, can I still say:

“I am in class now. “

Would this give the listener a false sense of me actually in the classroom?

Your friend just asked you: What are you doing?

You could simply reply: "I'm having class right now".

It would be more accurate. You don't have to state your location. But even if you said, "I'm in class now". In my opinion, I don't think he would misunderstand it especially because all know that studying became online due to this particular circumstance (Covid19). Overall, it's
