It just struck me what an odd phrase "hard-of-hearing" is. There are no parallels; we don't say someone is "hard-of-seeing" or "hard-of-walking" if they don't see very well or have trouble walking. I wonder where it came from.
(I am, in fact, hard-of-hearing, so I use it a lot. But it's strange.)
