I am glad to be able to get this award.

1) I am glad to get this award.

2) I am glad to be able to get this award.

I have heard of the kind of #1, but I am not sure that the kind of #2 is possible and what difference are there between them? If you do not mind, could you tell me when we can use the #2 and the difference between them?Thank you so much as usual in advance.
