I am excited about

Hi teachers,

Tom just had a hair cut. A new hair style he is wearing now. Then Tom says to Mary: I'm excited about my new haircut.

Does this sentence imply that Tom is going to have a new haircut in the future, and not he has already had one?

Thanks

The implication is that he is happy with this one. It does not exclude, however, the possibility of a newer one.

Hi Tinanam,

Yes the implication is definately that Tom has had his hair cut.

You could simplify this.

Tom could say

I'm excited about my new haircut" for a hair cut that he has just had.

"I am excited about getting a new hair cut" for one he expects to get.

Hi Philip,

Is "I'm excited about my new haircut" not a natural one to express you've had a haircut which excites you?

Thanks

Exactly my thought, therefore I would change " excited about" to "pleased with".
