I'm confused where the article to use because recently I have read a book which has following sentences. But in these sentences, there is no any article before the nouns; Time and home. Please tell me why can't we use "The" before following nouns. (EG: I was in a hurry, so I didn't have the time to call you)

We went to their house, but they were not at home.
Thank you!
We can say "I didn't have time to call you" or "I didn't have the time to call you". In the former case it may be that "time" is uncountable, or it may be that "have time (to do something)" is an idiomatic exception to usual article rules. It is not clear to me which, and it does not matter to native speakers.
