I am become death

What is the meaning of " I am become death"?

Can I just say "I am becoming death" instead?

Thank you in advance.

"I am become Death, the shatter of worlds" is a famous citation of Oppenheimer, J.Robert, who said it under the impression of first atomic bomb having been launched on 16 July, 1945.
