I am back from working....

Hello, could you help me?

Someone wrote:

I am back of working a lot in summer in my last year beach cafe job.

I know it is incorrect and there are several mistakes (are there?).

Could you tell me if I am right or add /make any comment?

1) I am back FROM working...

2) I would tell the student his sentence is too long and mixes too many things.

3) I would have written something such as: I am back from working a lot in summer. I worked at a beach cafe.

4) any other correction you would make to the student?

Thank you in advance!

"back of" is wrong. "back from" seems the most likely correction -- presumably meaning that the person has returned home after being away all summer working? "my last year beach cafe job" is ungrammatical, and the overall sense of being "back" from a job that happened "last year" is not very clear.

  • It may be possible to get everything into one satisfactory sentence, provided the sentence is structured correctly.

Good point. Still, it is possible (with the right constructions) for a more advanced student to put even more information in one sentence.

Yes, you are right! "Last year" doesn´t seem to match anywhere.

Thank you! Yes, but this student is just a lower intermediate and she finds it hard to find the right words.
