I am and I have been

Hi everyone. I'm not really sure how to say this, but can somebody help me with this sentence? I'm craving for something cheesy lately. Is this sentence okay to use? Thank you!

Using "lately" implies the perfect tense (well, perfect-progressive with "craving") in your sentence.

I've been craving something cheesy lately.

So it's not necessary to put for? I have been craving for something cheesy lately.

You have a craving for something when you crave it. You do not crave for it, you simply crave it, the same way you might desire it or want it or need it.
