Hello,

I feel the sound 'i'in the word 'it' is different from the 'i' in the word 'difficult'. I feel they sound different and I don't know why. Could you please help me out? Thank you

You can listen to both words pronounced here. Don't be hesitant to turn up the volume and listen closely. Is there a difference?

Sometimes the sounds before and after a particular sound alter our perception of that sound. The 'i's are the sufficiently the same in those words that native speakers would judge them the same, even though non-natives
