Hypothetically speaking

Question

Can a movie that's already rotten be "spoiled?" Let's suppose, hypothetically speaking, we had a movie named something like "Return of the Thith," (and just incidentally, I seem remember that a movie director named, ummm... "Lucas" somebody changed the name of one of his movies from the "Revenge of the Jedi" to the "Return of the Jedi" because "revenge" was "bad" can't imagine why I'd remember something like that after so many years) at any rate...

hypothetically speaking, suppose this "Thith" movie sucked dead bunnies so bad that folks were downright pithed off about it. Would they need to start their "critique" with the word "SPOILERS?" What would be the point? While the supply of "i"'s is on low side but seems to be stable, the English language *is* running out of "o"s and "s"s so perhaps we should reserve words like "THUILERS" (must conserve) for muvieth were thith really applieth.

It's a courtesy.
I think the movie stinks. Obviously, not everyone is going to think so. If somebody wants to see the movie, they should be able to make an informed choice as to whether or not they to know any more plot details than they already do.

But the point stands. It's not your place - or anyone's place, for that matter - to decide which movies are okay to spoil.

A lot of people decided that they didn't like Million Dollar Baby, so it was okay to spoil the ending for people and ruin their experience. Some people didn't like The Sixth Sense, or The Crying Game. But taking it out on would-be viewers just because you don't like a movie (no matter how justified you may be in disliking it) is both arrogant and inconsiderate.
****, I don't even talk about how Friday the 13th Part VII ended around people who haven't seen it.

Geeze, doesn't anyone here have a ^&*^%$*^ sense of humor? It was a joke. There were no* spoilers in my post. Period. I have *NOT* seen the movie, nor did I quote details from someone who has seen the movie. I have *never* purposely posted unmarked spoilers. I *do respect people's rights to see a movie without having it spoiled for them.

People have the right to voice their opinion* of the movies they watch. As long as they don't post spoilers without a warning and Ron *did* post a SPOILER WARNING (in CAPS) in the only post where he revealed any details then what more do you want? I guess if you don't want their *opinion* then don't read the message. But posting one's opinion (without revealing plot details) is *not posting a spoiler.

Yes, I've read unmarked spoilers in the past nothing in any of these threads was inappropriate, however.

So your "point stands" how as applied to what I wrote? It doesn't. You're obviously responding to something that you imagine is in this sub- thread that's simply is not there.
Or you're missing the whole point that my original post (and my response to Ron) was supposed to be humor.
No spoilers exist at all. No serious call to spoil movies exists at all. Your point does not apply to my message at all.

The broader point stands. You're original question was, "Can a movie that's already rotten be 'spoiled?'" My point is simply that it's not up to you or anyone else to decide which movies are rotten or not. If you agree, fine. If you don't, fine. If you think it's irrelevant, fine. I don't understand why you want to start World War III over it. You're being awfully defensive over what you call a "silly message."

I think you're reading too much into my use of the word "you." It could just as easily be replaced with "one." I wasn't accusing RonB of anything.
