I take it that when the descriptor (Brooklyn-born) is used as an adjective it is hyphenated, and when it is used as a noun, as in the sentence, He is Brooklyn born, then it is not.

Do I have it?

It's not a noun there -- it's still an adjective. When it comes before a noun, hyhenate.

Similar to: She is a full-time student. She is enrolled full time.
