Grammar

Hyphen or plural

Hello,

Could you please tell me which is correct?

a) The water is ten feet deep.
b) The water is ten-foot deep.

If I'm not mistaken, a) is correct. I think b) would be used if the phrase "ten-foot" was followed by a noun, correct?

Thank you.
H.
