HUNG UP WITH

Dear Teachers,

1. I think this girl deserves someone that is not hung up with his ex.

- What does "is not hung up with his ex" mean here?

2. I think you shouldn't start dating again until you're over the person you dated previous.

- What does "you're over the person" mean here?

3. I think you're not being fair to her when you still think about your ex-girlfriend.

- I think "being " here is redundant, right?

4. About breakups, saying there's no shot in the future is also unfair.

- What does "shot" mean here?

Thanks very much to Teachers,

Stevenukd.

1. not hung up with = not obsessed with, not still emotionally involved with his ex = his former (wife or girlfriend) 2. you're over the person = you have recovered from the disappointment of the previous relationship; you're not thinking about the person all the time and wishing you were together again.

  • not hung up with = not obsessed with, not still emotionally involved with his ex = his former (wife or girlfriend) 2.
  • you're over the person = you have recovered from the disappointment of the previous relationship; you're not thinking about the person all the time and wishing you were together again.
  • 3.
  • The sentence would be okay without "being," but it sounds more natural the way it is written.
