Humble opinion
Hi.
Longman dictionary indicates that the phrase in my humble opinion is a humorous way of saying your opinion. (http://www.ldoceonline.com/dictionary/humble_1 )But I have seen this phrase used in serious context a lot. Would you please shed some light on it and explain the exact meaning of in my humble opinion using Examples.
My personal impresion is that, we use in my humble opinion when we want to show modesty and say that we do not want to impose our opinion on others. To me it has nothing to do with being humorous. That would be kind of you to tell how it sounds to your ear when you hear it.
