If he pays closer attention, he will see that he feels vulnerable at times, as all of us do. such feeings come and go, as do his feelings of strength and comepetence. That doesn't make him weak or strong, just human.

The underlined part is unclear. Can I understand this that doesn't make him weak or strong, but that makes him human?
