I'd be happy if someone would answer my questions. Thanks in advance.

Concerning the sentence: However you try hard, you won't succeed. --- (A)

I think "However" naturally refers to some kind of Way / Method, and it's OK if it refers to an act of trying, but it's not OK if it refers to being hard. So sentence (A) is wrong or awkward.
Am I right?

It is wrong. The correct version is

'However hard you try, you won't succeed.'

However hard you try = No matter how hard you try = It doesn't matter how hard you try

Of course I know what the correct version is.

What I want to know is if my explanation why the original sentence is wrong is correct.
