However vs whereas

Hi.

What is a difference between however and whereas? Sometimes they seem the same to me.

I would be grateful if you could explain using examples.

"Whereas and while" are used to balance two contrasting ideas, facts, situations etc. Peter likes football whereas/while I like basketball. (two contrasting things but they don't contradict each other) "However" is used to accentuate a contrast between two points.
