The answer to your question (which was a bit difficult to find) is:

It depends on the construction of your sentence. There are three that come to mind:

A.) I like apples. However, I do not like prunes. (1)

B.) After obtaining my secondary school diploma, however difficult that may prove to be, I would like to travel the world. (1)

C.) Many people stop school after they receive their secondary diploma. After obtaining my secondary school diploma, however, I would like to go to university. (2)

The important thing to remember is the way you use "however."

Its definitions are:

however - adverb
1 used to introduce a statement that contrasts with or seems to contradict something that has been said previously : People tend to put on weight in middle age. However, gaining weight is not inevitable.

In my sentences A and C above, however is also used as an adverb to show contradiction.

however - relative adjective

2. in whatever way; regardless of how : however you look at it, you can't criticize that.

Sentence B is an example of using however to mean "regardless of how."
