Is it correct to use "but" and "however" in one sentence standing next to each other?

But and however can be in the same sentence but not next to the other. They are both conjuctives therefore used joining phases together. I am learning English but I am finding grammar hard to understand, however other people explain it to me.

In the sense I think you mean it ("but, however, ...", where "but" and "however" are both intended to introduce a contrasting statement), I wouldn't normally recommend using both words together. Choose one or the other. However, "but, however, ... " is not in my opinion necessarily wrong, and Google Books does throw up quite a few instances of its use by reputable authors. Some seem to be
