How would you write this sentence please??

How would you write this sentence?

The printer had run out of ink, so it prompted a economical mode, meaning the toner scrapes together the last of the ink to hold out a couple of prints until you change it.

Thank you

"Run out of" means that there is no more left. When your car runs out of gas, you have to walk. The printer is designed to be able to print in an "economical mode" when the toner is low.

I'm not sure whether I'm currect or not but I use to say it in this way.

The printer ran out of ink so it prompted a economical mode. It means the toner will connect every single drop of ink to print a couple of pages until you change it.

Don't use it. I need sombody to review my sentence cause I'm fond of using poor grammar.
