How would you write the following sentence?

The four chairs are in a square./positioned in a square, each chair is a corner of the square.

Thanks

Either of these is comprehensible, but neither is natural. "The four chairs are in a square" could also mean that they are "within" a square. The word "positioned" has more to do with position at a point, rather than the overall shape that they make.

You could definitely say "I've positioned the chairs at 5-meter intervals throughout the room."
