"I don't want to know how to write it correctly, I want to know why it is wrong".
I received this reply to a recent post and I was wondering if it's just me in thinking that this makes little sense or if I need to alter my approach to answering questions.
The context involved a rare exception to a rule and the best answer was, simply, "because English is like that at times and that's the way it's written".
What say you all?
