How would you phrase this?

Could you tell me how you would say this?
When my baby is in bed she'll cry on and off until she falls asleep. At first she cries every 10 seconds for 10 seconds. She then stops crying for 10 seconds to catch her breath and starts crying again. The silences (during which she takes her breath) will keep getting longer and longer until she finally falls asleep.

Thanks
