What is the best way to write the following?

Her ring finger has a different nail polish color from that of the rest of her fingers.

I would put "color" before "nail": "Her ring finger has a different color nail polish from the rest of her fingers."

The first one is not so good because "that" makes it sound too much like her fingers were colored.

An American would likely use "than" instead of "from": "Her ring finger has a different color nail polish than the rest of her fingers."
