How would you express this thought please?

Could you please tell me how you would write this to convey what I'm trying to say?

1 Once the anti virus scans a sections, the progress bar moves up in percentages. When the program has finished scanning section 1 of 5 of your computer the progress bar goes from 0% to 20% and by the time it has scanned your whole comp. It's at 100%. The progress bar doesn't fill up progressively but by section.

Could you please tell me if you can say " ... how you would write this to convey what I'm trying to say"?

Thank you
