How would you correctly express this sentence?

How would you please the first sentence?

Is control or contain a player correct? Is there another verb that works better?

As a manager, you need to be able to control/contain your players off the field so that they don’t tarnish the team’s reputation or image. You don’t want your players going out every night, getting drunk....

Thank you
