How to write sentence with "so"?

how to write it??
the exam is hard so you must study

or

the exam is hard, so you must study

or

the exam is hard so, you must study.

I am really sorry for noobish question T T .I want to explain about cause and effect by that sentence. Please give suggestion or advice if you have another expression/word to do it. Thank you very much.
