How to write like this

Hi,

Please tell me what the underlined part is. I think it is called something like an "Absolute Clause." Putting a comma and connecting two clauses is correct?

The sun radiating intense heat, we sought shelter in the cafe.

There is variation in terminology. I think I have seen a structure like yours called 'a reduced clause' and an 'absolute structure' - or something similar. When I went to school I learned to call it a causal clause equivalent.

I think that the first sentence is very unclear and mushy.
