How to write apology letter for the customer

Please anyone help me how to write apology letter for the customer who was mistakenly decided as culprit as he did not pay the bill and after carefull review of him he was proven as inncoent. He is one among my staff and I seriously feel guilty about the incident. In my letter i really want to express my guilty feeling for his misconception. Can anyone help me please.
