how to write anoniminity

If someone didn't want to disclose their full name in a letter how would one do it?
Mike so and so, Mike XX, Mike----?

You can't obscure your own name like that without looking distinctly suspicious! If you don't want to give your surname then just put your first name, don't put something silly after it. If you need to obscure another person's full identity to protect them, however, you would normally either put Mike X, or their initials MP (or whatever).

  • I suppose you could use your asterisks or dashes if you really wanted.
  • So-and-so is not appropriate.
