...How to wish elders?

Hi everybody,

I'd like to know that how should I wish the elders? For example, I want to wish my Manager on his birth day.
As I know, "Wish you a happy birthday" is common to everybody. But I feel this sentence greeting without having enough age.

Pls help me to give elders the due respect.

(I whole-heartedly welcome people, who correct my english even in my every questions)

Thanks in advance.

What about in US English?

milkyIn Bristish English, we don't really have a separate form for elders. If you are uncomfortable using "I wish you a happy birthday", you could say "many happy returns (of the day).

Simply say "Happy birthday."
