How to use "encourage"?

I always saw"encourage sth in sb"

eg.dont encourage bad habits in a child.

and i could also see"encourage sb in sth."

eg.her encouraged him in his studies.

and i can say encourage sb. to do sth.

eg.encourage sb. to lose weight.

That's all i know about how to use encourage.

but i saw encourage sb. doing sth?

These are correct:-

«Don't encourage bad habits in a child.»

«He encouraged him in his studies.»

«He encouraged her to lose weight.»

This is incorrect:-

«He encouraged her losing weight.»
