I want to say what the person's job was about and what he did. What he did actually was building/setting up interior network of the company. What's the correct way to put it? Thanks!
If you say someone is an 'assistant', it has to be clear who he is an assistant to. However, you can use the verb 'assist' without making it clear who he is assisting.
In your example, you might say something like
He builds/sets up the company's internal networks.
