How to use Prefer?

Hello

How would you say

I'd prefer you not to have such a nice house. It kills my esteem.

I'd prefer if you didn't/don't have such a nice house.

or some other way to say it?

Thank you

I wouldn't say it that way if I were you. " English uses a lot of similies, this is a place where you should take advantage of that. Make a comparison, compared to your house mine is ugly.

I wouldn't say it that way if I were you. When using prefer, i'd say: "I'd prefer if your house wasn't so much nicer than mine."

However, it would be better to rephrase that, for example, say: "Wow, your house makes mine look like a slum."
