Q: Choose one which is incorrect.

Are these your books? I’d like to borrow ( ).

a. some good ones

b. that one

c. nice one

d. one on baseball


They seem to me all correct.

But if so, "d" doesn't have an article, either.

I don't have a very good answer to that, except "that's the way it is".

There is a known phenomenon in English whereby modification of a noun — making it more specific — can trigger an article which might not otherwise be there. For example, "I'll go if I have time" / "I'll go and have a good time" or "I discovered love" / "I discovered a love of music". This may be part of the reason why
