How to use "ONCE"?

Is it appropraite to use ONCE in this way?

--> I will get back to you once I get that ready.

If it is, does the "once" here means "as soon as"? and is it appropraite to be used in a formal letter?

Thanks!

Thanks Clive!!

And may I know if I can use "I am readily prepared to.." to express that I am now prepared and ready to start doing something?

Thanks very much:)
