How to use "is of"?

Hey, I want to figure out how to use "is of" properly?

Is it okay to say "A tiger is of cat"? similar to the phrase a kind of something?

Please help me clarify, thanks.

". . . is of" is a combination of words that occasionally occurs, but it's not really an expression that you need to worry about using. You cannot equate it with "is a kind of" or anything else systematically.

I think you'd do well to restrict yourself to these patterns:

[Speed / Time] is of the essence.
This book is of [little / no] [value / importance / interest].
