How to use "in"

I know that "in" is used to indicate inclusion within space, a place, or limits. But I have found the following sentences but I do not understand of using "In" in the other ways.

examples:
1) I find difficulty in V+ing.
- Oftern see this kind sentence but why to put in? And what is the difference between 1) I find difficulty to learn Englsih, 2) I find difficulty in learning English

2) have hard time (in) V-ing

3) spend time (in) V-ing
I usually use "on" after spend time. Why using "IN" instead of "On"

4)be busy (in) V-ing

Anonymous I have found the following sentences but I do not understand of using "In" in the other ways. In the idioms you describe, "in" is almost always omitted. [difficulty / hard time / problem / trouble] V-ing (no "in") is the usual pattern.
