How to use Idiom "Even"

How to use the Idiom "Even"

RIGHT:
I am EVEN RICHER THAN a prince.
I earn AS MUCH money AS EVEN the wealthiest king.

WRONG:
I am RICHER EVEN THAN a prince.
I earn EVEN AS MUCH money As the wealthiest king.

I am not able to differentiate between RIGHT and WRONG. Could any one explain is there any way or strategy on how to use or not to use.

Thanks in advance.

"I am richer even than a prince" is less usual but is not wrong. For me, it has a slightly literary or poetic feel. "even" normally emphasises the unusual or extreme nature of the word(s) immediately following.

  • I think the problem with "I earn even as much money as the wealthiest king" is that "as much money" does not need such emphasis, and there is too much distance to the words that do require it, which are "the wealthiest king".
