How to use "even if?"

Is this paragraph correct? Is my way of using "even if" acceptable?

When you lose your way in a place you don't know at all, you may feel you've strayed into a different world where there is no knowing what will happen to you. I think a lot of people have had this kind of frightening dream even if they have never had such an experience in reality.

Hi! I have another question related to this question.
Is it possible to use "even though" instead of "even if?"

Yes, even though would work here too.

I'm a little confused about how to differentiate "even if" and "even though."
There are some cases where only either one of them is possible, I believe. Could you help me figure out why "even if" and "even though" could both work?

Even though expresses a certainty, while even if expresses a hypothetical situation, or one where something might or might not be the case.
I think that in the original sentence the point is that having the actual experience is not required in order to have the dream, so it doesn't matter whether you have not had the experience (even though) or might not h
