How to use 'essential' in a sentence.

Is my way of using 'essential' and 'essentially' correct? Also, is it possible to replace 'essential' with 'intrinsic'?

The essential value of writing consists in its content, not in its style.

teacherJapan The essential value of writing consists in its content, not in its style. The usage of 'essential' is correct. 'intrinsic' is also possible, but I don't think it's as good a choice.
