How to use 'common' and 'easy?'

Are all adjectives correct and common in the following sentence?

1. In spite of what history has taught us, most of us mistakenly believe that freedom is as (. ) as air and water.

I don't think any of them are. What springs naturally to my mind is 'natural' or '***-given'.

'***-given' and 'natural' may be the best choices, but I regretfully, I doubt that my students can come up with those terms from the original Japanese. I'll keep those terms in mind, though. Choosing the best nouns has always been my goal:-)
