how to use behave...

If you can instruct a child to "please obey me" then why can't you say "please behave me"?

The verb "behave" cannot take an object.

Well, for a start, 'obey' is a transitive verb and 'behave' is an intransitive verb. In other words, 'behave' does not take a direct object.
