How to understand the sentences?

--Mary doesn't think much of David.
--It can't be worse than his of her.

Can anyone help me to paraphrase it?

My guess is:
-- Mary doesn't direct much of her attention to David.
-- Mary's feeling towards David can't be worse than David's feeling towards Mary.

"doesn't think much of" is an idiom for "has a low opinion of"; it doesn't mean "doesn't pay much attention to".

If taken literally -- not a likely interpretation for this isolated example -- it means "doesn't think of ... frequently".

I confused "think of a person" and "be thinking of a person".
